Set up Proxy Server using WordPress Plugin

Some time you may have restricted access to many websites like Facebook, YouTube, Gmail etc. in your Office, Institute, College or University. Now most of us know how to access these websites under this situation. Yes we have to find some proxy server in order to have access to these banned or restricted websites.  There are many well know public proxy servers such as hidemyass.com are available for this purpose. Under certain situations even access to these publicly  available proxy servers are also restricted. Now If you are a blogger and already have some how know of WordPress and internet why not to setup your own proxy sever. It is really very easy and can be done only in few simple clicks. The WordPress plugin RePress can circumvent internet censorship by proxying traffic to websites which are restricted in your Country, Region, City, Office, College, or University. This plug-in enables you to magically uncensor any website on the internet from your own WordPress installation. Any WordPress powered website with this plug-in can immediately start functioning as a proxy server for the blocked websites.

How to setup RePress to establish your own Proxy Server

1. First of all make it sure sure you have permalinks enabled in your WordPress configuration

2. Download RePress and unpack the zip file in your /wp-content/plugins directory. Or Alternatively from the WordPress Admin dashboard go to Plugins -> Add New and search for Repress. Click on the install and activate the plugin.

3. Configure the plugin under Settings -> RePress

Let us say your WordPress installation is  example.ocm , you can access sites like FaceBook.com, YouTube.com by typing the URLs http://abc.com/proxy/facebook.com or http://abc.com/proxy/youtube.com in your Browser. All done. Now enjoy your own branded proxy server.
